Feedback & Change

When something changes and evolves over time, we call it dynamic. A city is a great example of a dynamical system, because feedback between the city and the people who interact with it form patterns of interrelationship that continually change its shape and character. We call it a "complex adaptive system" because there are many agents (factors that affect the system) that influence both it and each other. Changes in the system (the city) and its parts (the people) cause both to continually adapt.
